Journal #5
One argument that is being made in the introduction of the English Studies Book, is the argument of “What is English Studies and is it in Crisis?” Bruce McComiskey thought of this question after his argument during the Raft competition, he realized he needed to learn more about his field, about English Studies. He stated that the view of English studies was discipline and confusing. Later, PEter Elbow said he didn't know what English Studies was, but he was sure it was something good. McComiskey agrees thats the subject of English has become very confusing. Due to the confusion over the subject, Ian Small and Josephine Guy believed that there was always a chance for crisis with English. McComiskey beleives that English studies are not in crisis and that the problems are fixable.
